Balance and Transformation
I have been a Social Worker for 25+ years and feel so fortunate to be in a profession I love. I started out in the world of helping people way back in 1997. I started volunteering at a homeless youth center in Seattle, and almost immediately just “knew” that I was exactly where I needed to be. I quickly changed my plan of becoming a teacher and applied to the UW School of Social Work, started working in the drop-in center, and began this journey that has meant so much to me. I have worked in many capacities with a variety of populations since. In addition to working with homeless youth, I have worked with kids and families in the foster care system, teens, adults and families in hospital settings, and have been a therapist in private practice for almost 15 years. I have learned so much from everyone I have worked with and continue to love what I do! I am passionate about helping people gain confidence, skills and strength as they navigate this increasingly challenging world we live in. I believe that we all have within ourselves the capacity to have a fulfilling and enriching life and actively work towards helping my clients achieve this goal. I currently provide individual, group and family therapy, and utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities tailored to what my client wants and needs. I specialize in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and am excited to now offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as well. Both of these treatments are incredibly effective in helping people heal from trauma and the negative impact it can have on their quality of life. I strive to provide a validating and safe space for people to heal, and have experience treating a myriad of symptoms associated with mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, trauma in addition to grief and loss.
